ABOUT THE ARTIST

B. Kendall (Barbara Kendall Reed) paints abstracts that are inspired by her love of color and life’s many subtle as well as intense moments.  Furthering her admiration for abstract painting is her view of life through the prism of diversity and cultural differences.  Born of Creole heritage and reared on a military base in Dugway, Utah, it is hard for her not to have experienced the depth and breath of life.  She has traveled extensively throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, Italy, France, England and other places around the world.

She received her B.F.A. degree from Xavier University in New Orleans, Louisiana where she studied under the late MacArthur Genius Award recipient, John T. Scott.  Her art has appeared in many publications including the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Images Magazine, The Story, Upscale Magazine and Positive Images Magazine.  She has exhibited at the Hammond’s House Museum, Atlanta, GA., The Mattress Factory Lofts, Atlanta, GA., The Robert W. Woodruff Library, A.U.C., Atlanta, GA., the Swan Coach House, Atlanta, GA., Clay Gallery Atlanta, GA. Kathleen Coleman Gallery Houston, TX., and Stella Jones Gallery New Orleans, LA.

Barbara shares her time between her studio where she is surrounded by transformative energy, and her home in middle Georgia, where she enjoys peace surrounded by nature. This balance helps bridge her love for both environments and allows her creativity to flow.

Barbara’s first book, Life Iz Colorful, an art and poetry book about human traits, characteristics, and feelings expressed and organized by colors.

Barbara’s second book is an artistic about humanity, Messages from a Butterfly for Humanity, expressed through art, poetry, illustrations, short stories, and the observations of humankind by a butterfly named Sasha.
